Shane Smith

GM – Matrix Coating Technologies

Shane Smith has over 30 years of experience in asset integrity, reliability engineering, and operations management across the energy, facilities management, and defence sectors. He brings deep expertise in the commercialisation and delivery of corrosion protection and asset preservation solutions, with a strong focus on improving reliability, reducing maintenance costs, and extending asset life.

As General Manager of Matrix Corrosion Technologies, Shane is responsible for the exclusive distribution and local manufacture of the Humidur® coatings range across Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea. Since joining Matrix in 2023, he has driven the expansion of Humidur® into new markets, including marine, industrial, and water sectors, while introducing local product blending, packaging capabilities, and maintaining full P&L accountability for the business unit.

Prior to joining Matrix, Shane held senior leadership roles with Petrofac for over 15 years, leading asset management and reliability optimisation programmes for major global energy clients. Earlier in his career, he managed international facilities operations with UGL Global Services and served for 15 years in the Royal Australian Navy as a Marine Engineering Officer.
