Sustainability
Matrix Composites & Engineering is committed to proactively making changes to our business practices, manufacturing processes and operations in order to minimise environmental, societal & economic risks and impacts.
As part of this commitment we:
Minimise waste following a 'reuse and repair' mindset
- Carbon fibre is purchased recycled and remains fully recyclable after manufacturing.
- Split general waste and recycling bins throughout facility
- Reuse of freight boxes received for outgoing shipping.
- Regrinding of thermoplastic waste and recycling of raw product
- Solidifying of chemical waste at facility to an inert, non-DG product.
- Recyclable Matrix products are labelled to encourage clients to recycle at EOL.
- Structurally robust product design equals a longer product lifecycle than competitors, therefore reducing ongoing waste.
Incorporate best practice into our governance
- Anti bribery & corruption, Whistle-blower and Anti-discrimination & Equal Opportunity policies
- Diversity, equality & inclusion for staff
Compliant with Environmental certification for ISO14001 - Reducing paper usage and waste by transitioning digital systems
- Member of Perth & Peel Hydrogen Technology Cluster
- Screening of suppliers to prioritise environmentally conscious vendors
Reduce our carbon outputs
- Matrix is a zero-emissions site
- Improved energy efficiency using alternative power sources with solar panels to be installed to service entire facility
- Ability to put automated processes into low-power mode throughout the facility
- Coatings do not contain or emit VOC, isocyanates, coal tar or heavy metals.
- Reduced life cycle costs (LCC) of coatings through supply of innovate durable coatings with long life expectancy and technical engagement with clients. Increasing coating longevity reduces emissions due to maintenance, corrosion repairs, coating and steel replacement.
- Harvesting of rainwater with 5 tanks on site
- Production works undertaken through smart-works and batching to maximise energy efficiency.
- All forklifts are LPG driven – not diesel
- Introduction of fully electric moulding equipment that uses 30% less consumption than conventional equipment.
