JOB DESCRIPTION
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Chemical Blender to join our team on a full-time basis.
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, and based out of Henderson, the Chemical Blender is responsible for operating chemical production equipment, as well as refining and processing chemical-based products and associated plant.
Detailed accountabilities will include:
- Controlling chemical plant equipment performing continuous and batch processes to process chemicals and blend chemical base stocks to produce Matrix products
- Monitoring operation of chemical plant and interpreting instrument readings
- Preparing, measuring and feeding raw materials and processing agents
- Loading and blending resins and dry fillers into tanks and mixers to company-approved procedures
- Operating vacuum blending machines and batch mixers
- Planning and preparing production schedules based on production batches released by Production Control Department
- Performing batching operation of chemicals including resins, and pre-treatment chemicals
- Making adjustments to ensure chemical system process variables such as flows, temperatures and pressures are within acceptable ranges
- Analysing chemical samples, recording test data, and maintaining production records
- Checking chemical plant equipment for malfunctions and arranging maintenance as required
- Directing chemical operators and trades assistants as required
- Cleaning chemical plant tanks and mixers
- Operating according to ISO 9001 procedures
- Safe handling and storage of chemicals within the immediate work area
- Actively participating in improving department and plant safety performance
- Implementing continuous process improvements
- Other duties as required

ABOUT YOU
We are looking for someone with a safety-first approach and who ideall has:
Essential
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience with chemical manufacturing reactors, or related chemical blending experience
- AQF Certificate III with at least 2 years on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV or higher, such as a degree in Chemical or Industrial Engineering
- Previous experience with chemical plant equipment, materials, and safety practices
- Strong English literacy and comprehension
- Proficient in MS Office suite
- Excellent numeracy and record-keeping skills
Desirable
- Experience in chemical blending processes such as paint manufacturing, industrial and chemical processing
- Bachelor of Science qualification
